Terms of Service & Sales
Terms governing access to the Step by Stitch platform, usage rules, and paid subscription plans.
1. Service Description
Step by Stitch is an online project assistant tailored for crochet enthusiasts. The service provides crochet pattern upload and technical translation (PDF, images, raw text), interactive row-by-row checklists, real-time progress tracking, and dedicated row and stitch counters.
2. Intellectual Property & Copyright Compliance
The user expressly represents and warrants that pattern uploads, analysis, and translations are conducted strictly for personal and private use, on copyright-free works or patterns legally purchased from copyright holders. Step by Stitch claims no ownership rights over uploaded patterns, does not engage in commercial distribution of user content, and guarantees strict file isolation via Row Level Security (RLS).
3. Publisher Liability & Technical Limitations
The publisher is bound by an obligation of best efforts regarding service availability, security, and stability. While parsing and translation engines are tailored specifically for crochet terminology, the publisher cannot guarantee the complete absence of errors or omissions in complex diagrams or instructions. Users remain solely responsible for verifying their handmade work.
4. Pricing & Plans
Step by Stitch offers: • A free trial plan (limited to 1 imported pattern to explore all interactive features). • A paid "Unlimited" plan with no long-term commitment, available as a monthly (€6.99) or annual (€49.99) subscription. Prices are stated in Euros, VAT not applicable under Art. 293 B of the French General Tax Code (or inclusive of applicable taxes). The publisher reserves the right to modify pricing prospectively; any changes take effect after advance notice at the start of the next renewal cycle. Fair Use Policy The "Unlimited" plan is intended exclusively for personal, private, non-automated use by individual persons. To ensure infrastructure stability and equal quality of service for all users, the publisher reserves the right to apply technical rate limits in case of abnormal or disproportionate import volumes (e.g., bot usage, automated scripts, account sharing, or scraping). In cases of proven abuse, the publisher reserves the right to suspend or terminate account access after prior notice.
5. Secure Payment
Subscription billing is handled securely via certified payment gateway Stripe (SSL/TLS encryption, PCI-DSS compliant). No full payment card details are ever stored on Step by Stitch servers.
6. Immediate execution and waiver of the right of withdrawal
In accordance with Article L.221-28 of the French Consumer Code, statutory right of withdrawal does not apply to digital content supply not provided on a tangible medium once performance has begun with the consumer's express prior consent and acknowledgment of waiver. By subscribing to a paid plan, the user expressly requests immediate access to features upon payment confirmation and waives statutory withdrawal rights. No refunds can be issued for started periods.
7. Cancellation & Applicable Law
Subscriptions are non-binding and can be canceled anytime from the personal profile (Profile > Manage subscription). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle (monthly or yearly) without penalty. In case of disputes, users agree to contact support first via email (contact@stepbystitch.com) to seek an amicable resolution.
Privacy Policy
Commitments regarding privacy protection and personal data handling under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR - EU Regulation 2016/679).
1. Data Collected
In operating the service, Step by Stitch collects strictly necessary information: email address, user ID, display name, uploaded patterns (PDF, images, raw text), notes, and row-by-row progress tracking.
2. Purposes & Legal Basis
Data is processed for: • Contract performance: account creation, authentication, pattern processing, interactive checklists, cloud backup, and synchronization. • Legitimate interest: application stability, bug tracking, and abuse/fraud prevention.
3. Third-Party Sub-processors
To ensure security and infrastructure availability, we rely on specialized service providers: • Supabase Inc. — Database, authentication, and secure file storage (Row Level Security) • Stripe Payments Europe Ltd. — Secure payment and subscription processing • Sentry (Functional Software Inc.) — Error monitoring and technical logs • Vercel Inc. — Web infrastructure and hosting
This website uses Vercel Web Analytics to measure overall usage. It uses no tracking cookies, respects user privacy, and only collects aggregated, anonymous data.
4. Data Retention
Personal data and patterns are stored as long as your account remains active. After 24 months of continuous inactivity, accounts and files may be deleted after prior email warning. When deleting your account from profile settings, all documents and records are permanently removed from our servers. Invoicing data is archived separately by Stripe under statutory legal obligations.
5. Your Rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, export, and delete your personal data. You can exercise these rights at any time by writing to contact@stepbystitch.com.
If you believe your rights are not being respected after contacting us, you may submit a complaint to the French data protection authority: CNIL.
